Born in 1924.Studied at Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan, and at the Slade School of Art, London. His works are in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Musee de l’art, France, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. He was awarded the Shiromani Puraskar by the Government of India in 1994. A retrospective of his work was held at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, in 2003.
