Born in 1959. Studied at the Sir J.J School of Art, Mumbai, and at École des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Recipient of several awards including a Gold Medal from Maharashtra Government, a French Government Scholarship, the Sanskriti Award, 1995, and the Sotheby’s Prize, 1999. A mid career retrospective of his work was held at the Japan Foundation Asia Centre, Tokyo in 2001. Participated in 1st Yokohoma Triennial, 2001, 51st Venice Biennale, 2005, Documenta12, 2007, 7th Gwangju Biennale, 2008, 3rd Moscow Biennale, 2009, Biennale Jogja XI, 2011 and Asia Pacific Triennial, Brisbane, 2012. His work is represented in several private and public collections.
